ODESSA ODESSA by director Michale Boganim

Tuesday, November 29th, 2005

A documentary with a poetic style by new filmmaker Michale Boganim, with help from Gabriel Elhayani and French producers. It’s a montage of sentimental feelings that were collected from 3 places, the main being: Odessa, Ukraine. A collection, loosely connected in theme. You get to view a series of people, separate, who don’t know each other, speaking in different languages… only connected by the city of Odessa. Immediately you know that  it is more than a city, it is a feeling.

It’s an extension of the "wandering jew" theme. It’s about the detachment and alienation of the modern global age. It’s about how the secular state of Israel has gathered-in the "exiles", yet they long for home. It’s about the secular melting pot of America, which has attracted the hungry immigrant, yet they fail to assimilate. They keep to themselves, many also longing for home…
Where is "home"? It is not just an Odessa condition, a Jew condition, nor an Israeli condition. It’s a universal condition. It can be a statement of the wandering in all of us with the advent of modern high-speed travel, the lure of new places, the realization that when you get some place new… there you are, but where is THAT?

Currently, this film is unavailable. You can only lick your lips and dream… although you can get my interview with the director.

I had the opportunity to meet with the director, Michale Boganim when she was in the big Apple. We’re "practically related" in some way (but that is another story) From this meeting came a short film, available at some point through Silver Spring Studios. Her film had been at the prestigious Berlin Film Fest and Sundance prior to doing the Pioneer Theatre in NYC.

Legally Blonde

Sunday, November 27th, 2005

LegallyblondemovieI give it 3 stars (out of 5). The pacing is good, it’s relatively consistent, overall a cute movie.  The script was decent.  It’s not a mind-blowing movie, but as a popular mainstream offering, it’s acceptable. The best part is the little dog that the main character keeps as a constant companion, even in her college classes.
The acting is relatively good. What more can I say? If you are in a light-hearted mood and you have a few hours to spend on some mild entertainment, check out this one. You see, Mr. E is not that bizarre.  He thinks legally Blonde is alright.

But when all is said and done, I find the whole "blonde joke" a statement that works against the integrity of the USA. Just get over the damn hair color BS. I’ll take it blonde, brunette, redhead, black hair, bald, etc. whatever. Let’s stop being so superficial. ;) I inform u that I’m being half-sarcastic.

IMDB.com - Night (1996)

Link: Night (1996).

Because I know the illustrious SAG actor, Richard Brietfeller I have actually seen this flick. The movie is…  not so good. In fact, it’s so bizzarely bad that it will make you laugh.  IN other words, it’s a horror movie that will work as a comedy.

Even so, Richard’s acting showed promise in "Night".  He really has developed his craft since those days.

I must say for the record, horror movies never do well by me. Beware of my reviews regarding them. So true.  Unless of course, they are produced by me.  Mr.E horror flicks are of a better qaulity. Let’s take a quote from a loyal fan, "the spookiest, the wildest, the most terrifying!"  I dare you to watch one by yourself. I inform you I’m being sarcastic.

Currently I’m working on a gory bloody script. It’s called "The Rats are Everywhere"

“The Rebel Jesus”

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2005

Link: "The Rebel Jesus".

If you’re sick of all the Xmas songs out there already… I mean not totally sick, just sick part of the time (it’s intermittant)
then check out this article on The Nation website.

Here are the lyrics to the Jackson Browne song featured:

Originally recorded by Browne for the brilliant 1991 Chieftains holiday
collaboration, The Bells of Dublin, "The Rebel Jesus" has taken on a
life of its own. Along the way, it has become the most welcome antidote
to the deadening dose of commercialism that Americans imbibe each year
between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

So let us begin the season with Browne’s wise words:

All the streets are filled with laughter and light

And the music of the season

And the merchants’ windows are all bright

With the faces of the children

And the families hurrying to their homes

As the sky darkens and freezes

They’ll be gathering around the hearths and tales

Giving thanks for all god’s graces

And the birth of the rebel Jesus

|

Well they call him by the prince of peace

And they call him by the savior

And they pray to him upon the seas

And in every bold endeavor

As they fill his churches with their pride and gold

And their faith in him increases

But they’ve turned the nature that I worshipped in

From a temple to a robber’s den

In the words of the rebel Jesus

|

We guard our world with locks and guns

And we guard our fine possessions

And once a year when christmas comes

We give to our relations

And perhaps we give a little to the poor

If the generosity should seize us

But if any one of us should interfere

In the business of why they are poor

They get the same as the rebel Jesus

|

But please forgive me if I seem

To take the tone of judgment

For I’ve no wish to come between

This day and your enjoyment

In this life of hardship and of earthly toil

We have need for anything that frees us

So I bid you pleasure

And I bid you cheer

From a heathen and a pagan

On the side of the rebel Jesus.

Just a reminder to all the good folks out there.  Maybe if youve never heard it, you can implore your favorite radio DJ to spin the tune.

Let me know what you think… and what bone yo have to pick with hypocritical organized religion and even worse the secular goody-two-shoes mainstream who tralalala-lala this time of year.

What do u have to be merry about?

Hollywood Hopes to Reduce Movie Downloads

Hmmm, what can I say without getting in trouble? Eh, what’s that? Mr.E afraid of getting in trouble?

This is all about the issue of controlling the product thats out there. My prediction is this: eventually in the not-so-distant future, everything will be accessible. It will be a perfectly organized controlled mega-pool of entertainment. No monopolies from random corporations. There will only be one corporation, so the problem is ultimately solved.

Does that explain it? No. I didn’t intend to inform you of an encycolpedia of thought in one Blog. Contact me if you really want to know more. We are designing proprietary software that is going to bring humanity into the next era.
